My Settings Information

Here are some tips on adjusting the Ball Lock Settings and Game Play:
You got this far and maybe you own a FirePower Game.


The factory settings for "Number of Balls per Game" and earning Multiball are:
"3 Ball game" (Function 30 set to 03) and   "Eject hole pair lit first time, targets on memory" (Function 31 set to 03)

The translation is that the eject holes (ball locks) will light in a pair the first time you make the "FIRE" targets 1-6.
Note that this occurs on the first Multiball only. After that the ball locks will light one at a time.

Function 31 set to 03 will also mean that "lit lamps" for making targets 1-6 will carry over from ball to ball.
Each player will have their lit target lights tracked correctly provided your CMOS RAM and MPU board are intact.


From the notes for setting up for a 5 ball game (note #9 recommends):
"5 Ball game" (Function 30 set to 05) and
"Eject holes lit singly, targets on memory" (Function 31 set to 02)

I prefer to set 5 ball play and just leave Function 31 set to 03.     More chance of making a multiball  :o))

Function 31 "1-6 Targets" In order of difficulty (easy to hard):
Liberal: Eject hole pair lit first time, targets carryover Function 31 set to 03

Moderate:

Eject hole pair lit first time, no target carryover Function 31 set to 01

Conservative:

Eject holes lit singly, targets carryover Function 31 set to 02

Draconian:  

Eject holes lit singly, no target carryover

Function 31 set to 00

Function 33 "FirePower (F.P.) Bonus Lamps"
Next you can set how to get the Special Awards. These are controlled by Functions 33 and 35. 
Liberal: 10K Lamp already lit, Bonus Lamp carryover Function 33 set to 03 default

Moderate:

No lamps lit initally, Bonus Lamp carryover Function 33 set to 02

Conservative:

10K Lamp already lit, No Bonus Lamp carryover Function 33 set to 01

Draconian:  

No lamps lit initally, No Bonus Lamp carryover

Function 33 set to 00

Function 35 "Special Control / Background Sound"
To remove background sounds set the first digit to 0
Defaults work fine for Bonus Lamps and Specials, I use the hardest settings shown in red. 
Liberal: Both Specials light when 30K F.P.  Bonus collected Function 35 set to 13 / 03

Moderate:

Both Specials light when 50K F.P. Bonus collected Function 35 set to 12 / 02

Conservative:

Specials Alternate when 30K F.P. Bonus collected Function 35 set to 11 / 01

Draconian:  

Specials Alternate when 50K F.P. Bonus collected

Function 35 set to 10 / 00

Function 34 "Extra Ball / Attract Mode Sounds"
To remove "Attract Mode" sounds set the first digit to 0
Bonus award is incremented to 5x by completing the F-I-R-E lanes. EB is awarded from hitting the centre "Power" target. This is hard to make on a single ball, so I set Function 34 to 12. 
Liberal: "EB when Lit" WITH the 5x Bonus Function 34 set to 12 / 02

Moderate:

"EB when Lit" AFTER the 5x Bonus Function 34 set to 11 / 01

Conservative:

No Extra Ball (EB) feature

Function 34 set to 10 / 00

Function 32 "Ball Saver Kicker ON"
"Left Lane Kicker" (called the "Shield") after Firepower this became a Steve Ritchie design feature.

Increase the overall ball time by setting Function 32 to 01 or 03 - unless you always drain SDTM and not by the left lane. Try thinking of "3-bank Drop Targets" if you run with the default setting - the kicker award will make more sense. That's what the game software was designed for!
